The Swedish guitarist Ulf Wakenius approaches the music of his idol Paul McCartney in a wonderfully lyrical way. Guitaristic virtuosity, which Wakenius undoubtedly possesses, is not the issue here. Wakenius lets McCartney's melodies sing on his guitar, with plenty of room for sound and atmosphere. And what a band: together with bassist Lars Danielsson and Magnus Öström, Wakenius forms a dream trio of three incisive characters, who here place themselves entirely at the service of the songs and the interplay.

Ulf Wakenius served as the guitarist in the legendary Oscar
Peterson's quartet for nearly eleven years, until Peterson's passing in 2007.
He also played alongside bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen for many years.
Currently, one of his most significant musical partners is
the Korean singer Youn Sun Nah. Together, often in a duo format, they have
performed hundreds of acclaimed concerts around the world in recent years.
As a leader on his own recordings, the highly virtuosic
guitarist often showcases his calm, melodic side, typically on the acoustic
guitar. His repertoire includes interpretations of music by Esbjörn Svensson
and Keith Jarrett, as well as his own evocative compositions, often influenced
by world music.
