Peter Brötzmann

Peter Brötzmann (* March 6, 1941, † June 22, 2023) was one of the most prominent free jazz musicians ever to emerge from Europe.

His raw tone and emotionally charged approach to saxophones, clarinet, and taragato can be heard on hundreds of recordings, ranging from solo concerts to studio sessions with large ensembles and virtually every configuration in between.

His famous 1968 recording "Machine Gun" and his membership in the Globe Unity Orchestra established his international reputation. Brötzmann's extensive catalog reads like a "Who's Who" of free jazz and experimental rock.
