What is The Cure`s  deal with Jazz? Nothing? But maybe there is . On his new album Pierrick Pédron surprises with his successful trio including Thomas Bramerie (bass) and Franck Aulhorn (drums) by transferring the English Rock-/Wave-/Gothic-Band into an instrumental Jazz context.
Pierrick Pédron
According to "Le Monde," he is "a master of the alto saxophone" – Frenchman Pierrick Pédron. In his home country, he has long been one of the most sought-after and highly regarded jazz musicians. He won the "Concours de la Defense" and other important awards such as the "Prix Django Reinhardt" or the "Prix Boris Vian." Pédron also collaborates internationally with well-known compatriots like Baptiste Trotignon, Vincent Artaud, or the Belmondo brothers, as well as with US stars Wynton Marsalis, Mulgrew Miller, and Lewis Nash. Rooted strongly in the spirit of bebop, he masters the high-energy, breakneck pace of Straight Ahead Modern Jazz while also venturing confidently into experiments with rock, fusion, and electronics – yet always sounding entirely like himself.
