Jerry Léonide
Jerry Léonide is a young musician born 1984 in the beautiful island of Mauritius.

He started to play music at the age of seven with the help of his father who is a guitarist. Very quickly ,his natural talent made him one the  youngest pianists to be on stage playing with different bands in different styles.

Jerry is mainly self-taught but at the age of 17 he felt the need to go to a music school to master the language of Jazz.

He left his country 11 years ago to go to Paris to study music. He had the chance to study with great teachers such as Emile Spanyi and at the same time experiencing the parisian scene. Jerry has built himself a reputation of being one of the most talented and versatile pianists of his generation. His performances have been recognised by eminent jury members during jazz piano competitions.

In 2012 , he was one the 3 finalists of the Nottingham International Jazz Piano Competition and was was awarded in the same year the 1st prize of the french national piano contest "Concours Boris Vian". A year later he won the 1st Prize  along with the public prize  of the famous Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition.

The Key (ACT 9572-2) was Jerry's 1st album release. This opus is dedicated to his island , Mauritius. This country's richness of rythms and melodies is still unknown and  this project intends to reveal it by using the universal language of Jazz.
The music is rendered with great poetry and this unheard rythm and yet familiar carries the listener deep into the spirit of the Indian ocean.
