Jerry Léonide
Jerry Léonide was born in Mauritius and masterfully combines his Caribbean roots with modern jazz in his piano playing and composition. After moving to Paris, he quickly made a name for himself on the European jazz scene and won the prize-winning ‘Solo Piano Competition’ at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2013. His debut album ‘The Key’ received much praise for its fusion of Mauritian rhythms with jazz harmonies and showcased his virtuoso technique and musical sensibility. Léonide works both as a solo artist and with various bands and musicians, always integrating his cultural influences into his music. He is considered one of the most promising jazz pianists of his generation and inspires with his dynamic and colourful playing style.
