Jakob Manz
The Jakob Manz Project won the 1st Prize at the Future Sounds 2018 competition during the Leverkusener Jazztage.
In April 2018, the band also received the 1st Prize and the Audience Award at the international Jazz Prize Biberach. Bandleader Jakob Manz, born on May 16, 2001, has played with renowned musicians such as Wolfgang Schmid, Randy Brecker, Ack van Rooyen, and Wolfgang Dauner.
At the age of just 16, he was admitted to the Bundesjazzorchester (BuJazzO), with which he performed in concert halls like the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Kölner Philharmonie, and the Gasteig München, as well as in various countries including the USA, Canada, Albania, and the Netherlands.
"Youngster outshines them all: Jakob Manz and his band forcefully channeled the spirit of jazz through the forum, leading to a standing ovation from the audience," said the Kölner Stadtanzeiger about their performance at the Leverkusener Jazztage.
