The American jazz pianist and composer has made a name for himself with his innovative blend of jazz and classical music. After studying at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, he moved to Paris in the 1970s, where he quickly became known on the European jazz scene. His piano playing was characterised by complex harmonies and an extraordinary lyrical depth, which earned him great respect in the jazz world. Eric Watson was considered one of the most influential musicians in contemporary jazz and left behind a multifaceted musical legacy until his death in 2020.
