Eddie Harris
The Chicago jazz saxophonist became known for his innovative approach and cross-genre music. In 1961, he achieved worldwide fame with his hit ‘Exodus’. He was one of the first jazz musicians to receive a gold disc for it. Harris experimented with electronic instruments early on and was one of the pioneers of the electrically amplified saxophone. In addition to jazz, he integrated elements of funk, soul and rock into his music and worked with greats such as Les McCann and Jimi Hendrix. Eddie Harris was regarded as a versatile and pioneering musician whose influence can still be felt today.
