The Norwegian trio In The Country represents an unheard
reconciliation between tradition and experimentation, individuality and
accessible listening experience, and jazz and rock.Pianist Morten Qvenild, in particular, gained recognition as
a musical collaborator with Solveig Slettahjell.
Even then, he made it clear where his and ultimately In The
Country's great uniqueness lies: Hardly any band masters the art of reduction
so virtuously, makes silence audible, and plays in such a subtle way that is
entirely different from the others.
