Im Rückgriff auf musikalische Traditionen und Vorbilder entsteht oft Neues, mitunter Wegweisendes. Das dachte sich auch Kurator und Produzent Siggi Loch, als er Magnus Lindgren den Vorschlag unterbreitete, sich auf die Spuren von Herbie Mann zu begeben: „Stockholm Underground“ ist eine Hommage an den berühmten Jazz-Flötisten und angelehnt an dessen legendäres Album „Memphis Underground“ von 1969, das der US amerikanische Rolling Stone 2013 unter die „100 besten Jazz-Alben“ aller Zeiten wählte.

By reverting to musical traditions and role models, something new and sometimes groundbreaking is often created. This is what curator and producer Siggi Loch thought when he suggested to Magnus Lindgren that he follow in the footsteps of Herbie Mann: "Stockholm Underground" is a homage to the famous jazz flutist and based on his legendary album "Memphis Underground" from 1969, which the US Rolling Stone chose as one of the "100 best jazz albums" of all time in 2013.

referring to the Swedish musician Magnus Lindgren. In Lindgren's diverse
playing on the flute, saxophone, and clarinet, you'll find a blend of smooth,
soul-infused melodiousness and fresh, virtuosic jazz spirit.
As a long-time member of the Nils Landgren Funk Unit,
Lindgren is deeply rooted in the groove. However, when working alongside Till
Brönner, he also demonstrates mastery across various facets of modern
mainstream jazz. Latin, pop, and classical elements are also firmly entrenched
in his musical vocabulary.
Furthermore, Magnus Lindgren is one of the most sought-after
arrangers in the European jazz scene, capable of arranging everything from a
punchy horn section to a symphony orchestra.
