Joe Pass
Born in New Jersey, the virtuoso jazz guitarist was known for his masterful technique and solo improvisation. After early success in the jazz scene, he struggled with drug problems, but recovered and gained worldwide recognition. Pass worked with jazz greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and Dizzy Gillespie and was particularly appreciated for his solo performances and his ability to play bass lines, chords and melodies simultaneously. He had a lasting influence on the jazz guitar style and released numerous albums that are considered milestones. Joe Pass remains one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz guitar.
