R.I.P. Peter Brötzmann

On June 22, saxophonist Peter Brötzmann passed away at the age of 82. With his passing, the world of jazz loses one of its most influential, daring, and distinctive characters. Brötzmann's latest album, 'Catching Ghosts,' was just released on ACT.

It showcases the free jazz pioneer in a cross-genre and cross-cultural constellation alongside Moroccan guembri player and vocalist Majid Bekkas and American drummer Hamid Drake. Just under two weeks ago, Peter Brötzmann gave his, as we now know, final interview to ZEIT ONLINE. You can read it here.
