Siggi Loch receives DOWNBEAT Lifetime Achievement Award
ACT-founder and producer Siggi Loch has received the DOWNBEAT Lifetime Achievement Award for Jazz Recordings. A comprehensive article can be found in the current issue of the magazine. The award was presented by Nils Landgren at the celebration of Siggi Loch's 85th birthday in Berlin.
Siggi Loch founded ACT in 1992 and led the label until 2015 establishing international jazz greats such as Nils Landgren, e.s.t. Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Michael Wollny, Youn Sun Nah, Nguyên Lê, Vijay Iyer, Lars Danielsson, Viktoria Tolstoy and many more. In 2015 Siggi Loch did step back from the day-to-day, handing those responsiblities over to CEO, producer and partner Andreas Brandis. Since then, ACT has grown into a full 360-degree enterprise, combining label, management, publishing, booking, and concert activities, while continuing to work with three generations of jazz artists and foster new talent.
Siggi Loch continues to pursue his lifelong passion for jazz and has been curating the extraordinarily successful Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic series since 2012, which will celebrate its 50th edition with Remember Cannonball on November 21, 2025.
The DOWNBEAT Lifetime Achievement Award for Jazz Recording is presented since 1981 by the leading US jazz magazine. Past awardees include prominent figures such as Norman Granz, Rudy Van Gelder, Bruce Lundvall, Creed Taylor, Claude Nobs and Manfred Eicher.
