Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr “Landed in Brooklyn”

it doesn’t happen too often that a purely instrumental jazz album reaches the German pop(!)album charts. This DID just happen for “Landed in Brooklyn” the new album by the German siblings Julian (trumpet) & Roman (piano) Wasserfuhr, two of the most successful German jazz musicians of their generation.

Right after its release the album entered the top 100 of the German pop album charts, the top 100 of the amazon pop charts and #1 of the itunes jazz charts. “Landed”, the fifth album of the Wasserfuhr brothers has been recorded in Brooklyn, NY, featuring an all star lineup with Donny McCaslin (sax.) and Tim Lefebvre (bass) who were also part of the core band of David Bowies final, Grammy award winning album “Blackstar”, joined by drummer Nate Wood and produced by Grammy award winner Al Pryor.

The album, which has just been released by the end of February also received great first international reviews: Jazz thing (DE) is hearing “lively and energetic music, clearly influenced by New York and at the same time in the typical, melodious Wasserfuhr-style”. Allaboutjazz.com (INT) recognizes "sophistication and a refined stylishness", legendary UK magazine „The Wire“ calls the album „tight and fluent, with attractive and plangent original compositions” and French radio „FIP“ elected it “album of the week” because of its „emotional jazz, clear, precise and melodic music.”

"Landed in Brooklyn" is available now on CD / LP / digital. US release date: March 17th (Naxos).
