An international jury of music journalists has selected the album „mozart, bernstein, lennon“ by Finnish pianist Iiro Rantala together with The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen among the nominiees for the renowned „International Classical Music Award 2019“, one of the most important awards of its kind in the Classical world.
The finalists will be known by December 10, and the ICMA winners will be published on 17 January 2019. The Award Ceremony and Gala concert will take place at the KKL in Lucerne, Switzerland, on 10 May 2019, with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra conducted by Lawrence Foster.
On „mozart, bernstein, lennon“ the classicaly trained pianist Rantala combines his great passion for Classical music with the freedom of jazz. Center of the album, recorded live in Bremen at the gala concert of the 2017 jazzahead fair, stands Mozart’s piano concerto no. 21 in c-major. Music by Leonard Bernstein, John Lennon and Rantala’s own compositions compliment the repertoire.
