German Jazz Gold Award for Iiro Rantala

For his album "Lost Heroes" Finnish pianist Iiro Rantala has received the German Jazz GOLD Award (Jazz GOLD record). 
 
Rantala's heartfelt musical homages to his great late heroes can already now be called modern classics of jazz piano: The "Lost Heroes" album received the German record critic's award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik), the German ECHO Jazz and the Finnish Grammy "EMMA" alongside with rave reviews from all around the world.
 
On February 26th "Lost Hero - Tears for Esbjörn" will be released - the fifth live album of the celebrated "Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic" series. In the focus of the album: Iiro Rantala, who, together with Viktoria Tolstoy, Ulf Wakenius, Morten Lund and Lars Danielsson, pays homage to pianist Esbjörn Svensson, the great "Lost Hero" of European jazz.
