"Verneri Pohjola has what it takes to become an international star of jazz" (Allaboutjazz.com). The trumpeter was born in 1977 as the son of the Finnish jazz legend Pekka Pohjola. Similarly to his role-model Miles Davis, his work is characterised by his sense of space in his music, by sweeping melody arcs and his masterly way of manipulating subtle nuances of time. Just as fascinating as the trumpet player Verneri Pohjola himself are his abilities as composer and arranger – from highly unconventional quartet sounds through to complex arrangements for large orchestras.
