Following their 2010 and 2011 vote, Germany's jazz fans have elected the Munich based record company ACT their label champion again. The award ceremony took place at Volkswagen’s “Gläserne Manufaktur” in Dresden on June 3rd.

The ECHO, Germany’s most prestigious music award, for the “Label of the Year” was determined in a public online voting. This is, what makes the award especially important for ACT head Siggi Loch and his team.

Besides the “Label of the Year” award, three ACT artists received an ECHO for their current albums:

Magnus Öström received the ECHO Jazz as “Best Drummer International”, Iiro Rantala the ECHO Jazz as “Best Pianist International” and pianist Joachim Kühn was awarded the ECHO Jazz for the “Best Big Band Album” for his ACT production “Out of the Desert live at Jazzfest Berlin” with the HR Big Band.

Iiro Rantala and Magnus Öström’s performance of the song “Tears for Esbjörn”, dedicated to their 2008 deceased friend and long-time companion Esbjörn Svensson, marked a musical and emotional highlight of the award ceremony.

The show will be broadcasted on German public television MDR on Thursday, June 7th at 23:35 local time.
